A raster image (JPG, PNG) is made of fixed pixels, so enlarging it makes it blurry or pixelated. A vector file is made of scalable paths, so it can be resized to any dimension without losing quality.

DST is the most widely compatible embroidery machine file format (originally developed by Tajima), containing stitch and color-change instructions but not the actual thread color names.
PES is the native embroidery file format used by Brother and Babylock machines, and can carry more detailed color and thread information than a DST file.
AI is Adobe Illustrator’s native vector format, fully editable in Illustrator. EPS is an older, universal vector format that’s compatible with a wider range of design software beyond just Illustrator.
It depends on your machine brand — check your machine’s manual or tell us your machine model, and we’ll deliver the correct format (DST, PES, EMB, JEF, HUS, VP3, XXX, or EXP).
A vector file or a high-resolution image (at least 300 DPI) gives the most accurate digitizing or vectorizing result. Low-resolution images can still be used but may require more manual reconstruction.
Since you review and approve your design before paying, you never pay for a file you haven’t already confirmed you’re satisfied with.
